Forecast of March 2012 Ban List

Hey, guys! Sorry for not updating my blog for such a long time. As usual, I will predict the March ban list again for this year. Although the September 2011 ban list does not much affected the current game, there still a lot of player quit from the game due to the reprint of Pot Of Duality in OCG and the release of Heavy Storm.


After the effect of September 2011 ban list, new meta decks have arise especially in OCG such as Inzektor, Rabbit Laggia, Laval, Ninja Laggia, Rabbit Ninja and etc. One of the new tier 1 in OCG is Inzektor and it has started conquer some of the major tournaments in OCG. However, I still don't a very reasonable reason for limiting some of the inzektor cards.

Based on my own analysis towards the trend in OCG and TCG, the March 2012 ban list may not have any ban card due to I haven't see any of the ULTIMATE broken cards especially in OCG yet. Some of the players might disagree with my opinion and especially OCG players will select Inzektor Hornet as one of the card that must be ban. I personally feel that Hornet is quite good but it still haven't reach the level of Dark Armed Dragon yet. Even if it will be listed in the March 2012 ban list, it will only be place on the semi-limited list.


Wind-up deck has started getting popular due to the release of Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity and by using this card combo with Wind-Up Hunter, hand destruction combo can be done easily. As a result, I think that both cards will be limited in the coming March 2012 ban list. Besides that, I personally think that Blackwing has started fade away from the public especially in TCG and the main reason is due to the limit of Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow. In order to regain its combo and to against Inzektor, I personally think that Kalut may become semi-limited in the coming March 2012 ban list.


Moreover, Inzektor can be combo with Wind-up with the use of Insect Imitation and this can make the Hand Destruction combo easily. To reduce the consistency for this combo, Insect Imitation may be become limited in this ban list. Marshmallon may also become semi-limited due to its sibling, Spirit Reaper is free from the current ban list. The Agent of Creation - Venus may also become semi-limited because it is one of the key for making the Xyz summon of Gachi Gachi Gantetsu or Daigusto Phoenix.


Last but not least, I think that Destiny Draw, Magic Cylinder, Ojama Trio and Swords of Revealing Light will no longer restrict. Apparently, Konami started to encourage for special theme deck especially Chain Burn, Lock Down and Mill deck. Therefore, we seldom seem those cards will be forbidden unless the card can be combo easily and so called "broken". One of the best example is Mass Driver that best combo with Substitoad before the effect of September 2010 ban list.

Is Time to Alive Again!

Sorry for not updating my blog since September 2011! Today I will share a quick news regarding Gold Series 2012/GS04 in OCG. Most of the people think that Pof of Duality gonna be a common card that can be scattered every where, however, Konami did not make this dream come true.

So Konami put Pot of Duality and Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning as the NR in this pack. Anyway, this decision did not affect the price of these two cards much and sellers are still earning enough of money due to the act of Konami.

Apart from that, Konami will release new booster, Return of the Duelist on next year April. According to the product description, this booster will introduce brand new card concept and I personally think that the concept that they refer to is about new monster sub-archetype. I think the concept will be some sort of Xyz support card and they can be stack under the Xyz monster while can be treated as Xyz material.

Besides that, I do think that this booster will promote X-Saber again due to the popularity of Inzector and Extra Pack 4 did not achieved their market target. The reason I says so is due to the rarity and price of XX-Saber Darksoul. We still don't see many of the X-Saber deck topping in major tournament nowadays therefore I think X-Saber will gain new support cards in this booster.

Actually I planned to post about my thoughts on some new cards but seem like time does not allow me to do so, thus I will only share it in the upcoming posts. I have planned to share with you guys regarding the deck build of Dragonic Legion and some ruling discussions in the upcoming post.

Seremban Tourney on October 2011

Hey, guys! Today I would like to share a great news especially to those players live in Seremban. There would be a Yugioh tournament in this coming October and interesting prizes will be provided. It is open to the public and no matter you are beginner, advanced or expertise Yu-Gi-Oh! players from any countries! If you wanna grab the prizes please come and compete in this event. Below is the details of the tournament:

Venue: Recess shop, 2nd floor, Terminal 1 Shopping Center, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan
Date and time: 30th October 2011(Sunday), 1pm-7pm
Registration fee: RM20

1 Box Extra Pack Volume 4, 3 Structure Deck(SD), 2 Promo/Limited Edition Cards

Closing Date of Registration: On-site registration.

Rules and regulations:

1. This tournament is open to the public.

2. Participants are required to register themselves for the tournament latest before 12.30pm. Seating arrangements and oppositions will then be designated and announced. 

3. The Organizer holds all rights to the entries and will bear no responsibility for loss of personal belongings and/or personal injuries during the tournament.

4. The decisions of the judges are final and no correspondences will be entertained. The Organizer reserves the right to change /substitute any of the prizes at any time without prior notice.

5. The event host reserve all rights for the final decision.

 

Special Notice:

1. The tournament organizer allow any version of original Konami Yugioh Official Card Game to be used in Official Tournament including OCG and TCG exclusive cards. 

2. Promo cards from Shueisha Magazine or Comics, Duel Terminal (DT), Premium Pack(PP) and Limited Edition(LE) cards can be used in this tournament even though it have not reprinted.
3. Players are allowed to play up to maximum 5 pieces of printed/pirated Yugioh cards with the correct card effect in their deck by adding extra RM5 during the registration.
4. Those that eliminate/lose the duel will have a KFC voucher as consolation prize. 
5. All card rulings will be based on OCG standard. 

6. All deck size must be 40-60, Extra deck 0-15, Side Deck 0-15.

7. Any players who found cheating or changing of cards during in the tournament will be disqualify instantly.

8. Judges have all right to disqualify duelist who misconduct and rule violations.

OCG Rulings of XX-Saber Darksoul

Hey, guys! Sorry for not updating my blog since last week because I'm already back to my university for continuing my final semester of studies. Thus I will spend less time on updating my blog. Anyway, today I would like to share the latest rulings regarding XX-Saber Darksoul that just been released in EXP4 in OCG.

In OCG, XX-Saber Darksoul is no longer an imbalance card for X-Saber because of the effect of new rulings. Below are its latest rulings:
Q1: If this card is send to the graveyard multiple times within a turn, during end phase of the turn can I add 1 "X-Saber" monster to my hand for each time it is send to the graveyard?
A1: No, no matter how many time this card is send to the graveyard, during the end phase of the turn, you can only add 1 "X-Saber" monster to your hand.

Q2: Does its effect is activate when it is send to the graveyard?
A2: No, its effect is activate during the end phase of the turn this card is send to the graveyard(chainable). When it is send to the graveyard, its effect is not activate.

Q3: During the turn this card is send to the graveyard, if it is removed from the graveyard by other card's effect even it is during the end phase, can I still activate its effect?
A3: No.

Anyway, XX-Saber Darksoul is still powerful although the new rulings has take place because it is still a Sangan in X-Saber deck. Besides, Konami has officially revealed its date of releasing Gold Series 2012 and it will be released on 7 January 2012. I truly hoping Konami will reprint Chain Disappearance, Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress, Caius Shadow Monarch, TG Hyper Librarian, Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning and etc in the upcoming Gold Series 2012.

Upcoming Structure Deck(SD22) in OCG

Extra Pack 4

Hey, guys! Today I would like to share some of my thoughts regarding the upcoming structure deck that is SD22 - Dragonic Legion which gonna distribute on 10th December 2011 in OCG. This SD is the next SD that mainly focus on Light and Dark attribute's Dragon and once again we will see 2 UR and 1 SR cards in the SD22 which followed the old trend of SD like Structure Deck Yugi, Kaiba, Joey and Pegasus.

Anyway, I still wondering whether this deck can maintain their consistency and combos just like their previous SD series from SD18 till SD21. This is due to most of the dragon's monster having high attack but less destruction effect or search engine except those synchro monster. Thus it is a need for Konami to add a new search engine for the Dragons. Apart from that, I can predict that the new cover card or their boss will having some destruction effect that similar like Master Hyperion.

Hopefully, Konami will reprint some of the useful dragons and its support cards such as Light and Darkness Dragon, Koa'ki Meru Drago, Explorer Dragon, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, Prime Material Dragon, Dragon's Mirror, Trade-In, Gold Sarcophagus, Starlight Road and others. I also would predicts that the new spell card in this SD might be another new drawing engine by referring to the previous SD series. For the new trap card, I wish it will be an useful card that can protect dragons from being destroyed.

Moreover, Konami have officially announce the Xyz rulings and no more Tengu or Tourguide-Sangan Xyz combo. For the losing of priority for activating Ignition's effect of monster, Konami will announce it later so that the game will play in a same standard no matter you are playing in OCG or TCG environment. Next week, OCG will release EXP4 that contained all those TCG-exclusive cards and we may see more variety of decks will be play after this. I personally think that X-Saber, Infernity and Gravekeeper may rise in the OCG although they are having pressure against Twilight, Agents Fairy, Dark World, Lightsworn and etc.

Good Side Against Tier 1

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning

Hey, guys! Today I would like to share several cards that will become important in the new format. Few more weeks later, Extra Pack Volume 4 will be released in OCG and it will support most of the existing theme decks such as X-Saber, Infernity, Fiend, Nordic and etc. Although most of these decks will gain their new support cards, I still can see that Twilight/Chaos deck will be one of the major decks topping in the tournament.

Chaos Hunter

Thus we need to have good side against these tier 1 decks. If we faced with Twilight deck then we can side in Chaos Hunter. Chao Hunter effect is "when your opponent special summon a monster, you can discard 1 card to special summon this card from your hand. Your opponent cannot remove cards from play." This card is very useful against Twilight deck because most of the Twilight deck will have Chaos Sorcerer, Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, Bottomless Trap Hole and etc. With it, you can lock their special summon or banishing effect easily.

Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer

Apart from that, Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer will again become useful against Twilight, Lightsworn, Infernity, X-Saber and etc due to it can prevent your opponent from banishing their cards in the graveyard to special summon monsters and you can banish their key cards too. Starlight Road can also be siding because it can used to prevent massive destruction especially cards such as Dark Hole, Icarus Attack, Torrential Tribute, Black Rose Dragon and etc.

Besides that, Spell and Traps destruction cards such as Dust Tornado and etc still needed in the side deck because although Heavy Storm has been unbanned, a lot of players would still set a number of traps with the protection of Starlight Road and Dark Bribe. Chaos Trap Hole can also put in the side since more and more twilight deck is topping in the major tournament. Maxx C can also be used since a lot of special summon themed deck will be played in most of the tournament.

 Xyz Quick Facts

Moreover, TCG has announced the quick facts of Xyz(shown in the picture above). The text that illustrated in the picture is as below:
-Xyz monsters are summoned using monsters that are the same level.
-You can only use actual monster cards. No tokens allowed!
-The monsters used for the Summon become "Xyz materials" attached on the monster.
-Xyz material cards are not technically "on the field", so they can't be destroyed by card effects, etc.
-When a card tells you to "Detach" an Xyz material, send that material card to the graveyard.
Actual monster card in this text is including all type of monster card except token and trap monster. The new statement means that the card stack below the Xyz monster is not monster card nor equip card but it is material card. Thus Xyz material such as Sangan or Reborn Tengu cannot activate their effect when they are used as Xyz materials and detach from the Xyz monster.

Frog Monarch based on September 2011 Ban List

Hey, guys! September 2011 ban list have been revealed for a week and a lot of people thought that this ban list will shutdown most of the current meta deck. However, I'm personally think that this ban list still give most of the decks a lot of potential. Based on the new ban list, we can see that Debris Plant is affected the most and its speed is slow down. Lightsworn gonna back to the mainstream very soon!

But I can see that X-Saber, Infernity, Agents Fairy, Junk Doppel and Quickdraw Plant once again back to the mainstreams. With the aid of XX-Saber Darksoul and XX-Saber Boggart Knight in OCG, the X-Saber might become glory because Heavy Storm has back. X-Saber is focus on control and swarming thus they afraid of the disturbance of traps. With the coming back of 3 MST and Heavy Storm, their deck is far more destructive and will back to Tier 1 in OCG very soon.

Infernity also will get their support card, Infernity Barrier after this September and Infernity Barrier is the one-time Herald of Perfection. Infernity is also a deck that dislike traps thus it is very depend on the trap destruction cards. Apart from that, Infernity will get another new support card, Infernity General that enable them to Xyz summon Rank 3 monster more rapidly. As a result, I think that this deck might be topping in most of the tournaments soon.

Anyway, this ban list format also make a lot of decks putting Effect Veiler, Quick-Play Spell such as Enemy Controller, Forbidden Chalice, Forbidden Lance or My Body As Shield, and Starlight Road in the main deck. Thus we will see a lot of negation cards in this new format. Although Judgment Dragon is unlimit and Necro Gardna is semi-limit, I still don't see much of improving in the speed of the Lightsworn deck. The major threat for Lightsworn deck would be Agents Fairy, thus we might see these two decks topping in most of the OCG tournaments.

Although the new ban list kill a lot of decks such as Fishborg Synchro, Monarch Synchro, Cloudian Synchro, Psychic FTK, T.G. Control(TCG) and etc. With this new format, a lot of people may switch to play Twilight deck. However, I like to be odd from the others thus I like to share my recipe of Frog Monarch for this format. I still see a lot of potential on Frog Monarch and this ban list may make it a bit better than previous format although Fishborg Blaster is banned. This deck might not be Tier 1 but I think this deck able to against Dark World very well.
