New Trend for OCG

Hey, guys! Unconsciously, we already enter the month of September 2010 and this also means that the September 2010 ban list is in effect. From the review of tournament result of last week Japan National Tournament which applying September 2010 ban list, the current major trend of OCG (Asian countries) decks are still Quickdraw Dandy, Blackwings and Machina. However, Flamvells are started becoming another new trend in the TCG (Western countries) due to the release of Hidden Arsenal 2.

Currently, lot of players are searching for the Dark Hole. Since this card has been banned for a long time thus the players would found some sort of difficulty to search for it. Dark Hole has become a requisite in every deck during this moment due to its effectiveness in destroying monsters on the field and it is costless compare with Lightning Vortex. During this moment, monsters are far more easy to leave from field or stand on the field than before due to popularity of cards such as Fissure, Smashing Ground, Dark Hole, Bottomless Trap Hole, and Torrential Tribute.

Thus, cards such as Drill Warrior, Stardust Dragon and Dark Ninja are very useful during this time. Drill Warrior allows itself to remove from the play before opponent turn and return back to the field during its owner's turn. This make it very useful against usage of cards such as Fissure, Smashing Ground and Dark Hole from the opponent. Besides, Starlight Road also very useful against popular cards such as Gladiator Beast Gyzarus, Black Rose Dragon, Dark Hole, Lightning Vortex, Torrential Tribute and Icarus Attack. The usage of Starlight Road also means
the occurrence of Stardust Dragon will far more frequent than before.

Apart from that, without the occurrence of Heavy Storm in all kind of deck, most of the players started focuses on the usage of trap cards such as Dimensional Prison, Magic Cylinder, Starlight Road and Solemn Warning. As a result, Cyber Dragon is quite important during this moment due to its special summon ability. Besides that, Gladiator Beast may regain their power during this moment due to the ban of Heavy Storm. Gladiator Beast are very reliable with the Magic and Trap cards thus the GB players can set their Magic or Trap cards more frequently and no need to worry for the occurrence of Heavy Storm. With the release of Extra Pack 3 in Asia, the X-Saber deck will become quite popular in certain countries even though Rescue Cat has been banned during this moment.

Blackwings are still not much affected by the new ban list due to the replacement of Heavy Storm with their specialized "Heavy Storm" that is Delta Crow - Anti Reverse. Furthermore, Blackwings will gain some new supported cards from Crow Duelist Pack during this October. Another new trend of deck that might rage in Asia in this period is Synchron deck. Synchron deck is a deck consists of Synchron-named monster which used by the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's main character, Yusei. The Synchron deck contained Synchron-named monsters such as Junk Synchron, Quickdraw Synchron, Drill Synchron and others. This deck is very reliable on synchro summon and the variety of synchro monster is far more richer compare with other series synchro monsters. The release of Tuning in STBL also enhance the synchro summon of Synchron monsters.

At the mean time, the Dragunity deck which just released 2 months ago in Asia has become weak due to the rulings of several Dragunity cards has been changed especially Dragunity Aklys. Its effect of destroying card on the field cannot be activate unless it is send to graveyard when it is the equipped equip card on the field. This also means that cards such as Book of Moon, any cards that can destroy its equipped monster or even battle destroy will stop this card from functioning. Thus, Dragunity deck sure will have some impact and less frequent to see it play in the tournament.

Ok, that's all for today. Please stay tuned for my next post. Thanks for reading.
